Sofia — Morning Light

Sofia is a portrait of the very first hour of the day. Her face is relaxed in deep sleep: closed hand-rooted lashes, slightly parted lips, a warmth in the skin mixed from ivory, milk and the faintest apricot. She was painted next to a window at dawn, and it shows. Her weighting follows the way a sleeping child settles — heavier through the body, soft at the limbs — so holding her is instantly, strangely calming. Sofia is currently reserved for a collector.
